Agassi, Mac, Sampras, Courier Headline Champions

rong>, Pete Sampras and Jim Courier will headline a newly expanded and reformatted Champions Series circuit with one-night tournaments in 12 cities nationwide this fall.

The Champions Series will feature former Grand Slam greats competing for ranking points and a bonus pool totaling $1 million that will be shared by the top three finishers at the conclusion of the condensed five-week season. Each of the 12 one-night tournaments will feature four champions paired off in one-set semis, culminating with the winners competing for the title in an eight-game pro-set championship match.

“The Champions Series is the perfect platform for me and the other players to satisfy our competitive cravings,” said Courier. “At the same time we’ll also be participating in top-flight events that will help grow the sport of tennis in many U.S. markets which lack big-time pro tennis.”
