INDUSTRY VET TABBED AFTER EXTENSIVE SEARCH
According to Inside Tennis sources, John Embree – long a respected tennis industry veteran – will be named the new CEO of the USPTA, the world’s largest teaching pro organization.
Formerly a top executive with Wilson and Prince, Embree more recently worked with the USTA and the Donnay racket company. He will take over from Tim Heckler who has headed the USPTA since 1982. A member of the Texas Hall of Fame, Heckler received many an award and is now leaving amidst some controversy.
Embree is a huge Chicago area sports fan who has worked actively within the USTA and the Tennis Industry Association for years. He will be moving to Houston where the USPTA has its headquarters. The group will gather in Monerey, CA on September 16-21 for its annual meeting .
